Dr. Umida Avloni, who immigrated to the United States in 1993 from former Soviet Union, has extensive experience teaching piano and music theory in both countries. She worked as an Active Chair of the Department of Eastern music, served as the Vice-President of the Young Composers’ Association of Soviet Union/Uzbek Division, participated in national and international conferences, symposiums, and music festivals, published numerous articles and wrote a monograph.

In 1998 Dr. Avloni opened Avloni Academy of Music in Lafayette, CA, which grew into a school with 5 locations, expanding to Saratoga, San Jose, Mountain View and Cupertino. With over 600 students and 40 faculty members the  school became a flourishing cultural center and has provided community with charitable events at hospitals, retirement homes, and senior citizen centers. The success of AAM was a combination of a faculty of unparallel quality, an environment that allows children to nurture their love for music, and a tailored program for students, including, master classes with world renowned musicians. In 2018- 2021 Dr. Avloni trasnsferred AAM to the patronage of other reputable musicians and started focusing on private teaching and composing music.

Dr. Avloni served as a judge at numerous international competitions, including the US Open Music Competition, North China International Piano Competition, World Piano Pedagogy Competition, Elite New York Carnegie Hall Competition, US International Piano Competition, Junior Bach Festival, North CA Young Talent Competition, Sacramento Baroque Festival, The Valencia Young Pianist Competition; Go for the Gold Contest and many others, adjudicated competitions and tests organized by various musical organizations, including CAPMT, ACM, NMTA, and MTAC. She served as a member of the Master Mind Committee of The Academy of Music and Dance, in Vancouver, Canada, worked as a member of the Board of Directors of the Junior Bach Festival, CA, and made numerous presentations at various musical events. Umida maintains contacts with her Alma Mater - Tashkent Conservatory and Uspensky School of Music, where she gave lectures and master classes during 2005 and 2019.

Dr. Avloni’s work has been recognized by the US National Piano Guild and she was honored to be in the Hall of Fame of the American College of Musicians.
