Jessie Lam:
The previous piano teacher who taught my kids for 7 years can't teach anymore due to personal reason. She didn't want my kids to just go to any teacher. She only recommended Dr. Umida after hearing one of her students performed. I think that says a lot about Dr. Umida when the word comes from another piano teacher.
We have been with Dr. Umida since 3 years ago, and I see tremendous result in my sons' piano learning. Dr. Umida is probably the most patient and encouraging teacher I have ever seen. She never showed the slightest frustration in any lesson, even when my sons did not put in enough effort at practice occasionally. She always encouraged them and helped them to come back on track. She also showed them different techniques of improving the songs. I am really impressed by how she can make the songs so much better with her unique way of teaching.
Both my kids had won several competitions in the past few years and they enjoyed this piano journey very much. My older son has completed all the CM levels and no longer with Dr Umida since a few months ago. But I hear him plays his favorite songs almost every week at home. My younger son is still with Dr. Umida. He practices his piano happily every day, and I never have to ask. Dr. Umida is really a gem and I would highly recommend her to any parents who are looking for a great piano teacher.
Ethan Yu:
Umida is without a doubt the most compassionate teacher I've had the pleasure of learning from. I might be a bit biased since she was my teacher for 10+ years, but she was able to convince an 8-year-old me who was about to drop piano to continue perfecting my craft. Here I am 10 years later, with numerous national and international accolades under my belt.
Umida's teaching is, simply put, infectious. Her love for music is contagious, and as her student, it definitely infected me. She taught me the profound respect that a piece deserves. The multitude of classes devoted purely to working on single line or bar of music instilled within me a respect for the extremely complex intricacies of a piece. I learned pretty early on that mastering a piece extended well beyond the ability to perform it without mistakes. Rather than being put aback by the daunting task of mastering a piece, though, Umida's lessons always left me excited to practice and hone the pointers she gave in class.
Over the years, Umida cultivated within me not only a wide portfolio of different pieces, but also a sense of how beautiful music can be. The time management and work ethic I've learned from consistently playing piano under Umida has also proved invaluable in other areas of my life. I really owe my current musical sense and love to Umida, and for that, I am forever grateful for her mentorship.
Suixin Wen:
Dr. Umida is an excellent piano teacher. I had the privilege of being a student in her class for 4+ years, and I can confidently say that Dr. Umida is truly exceptional at what she does. Dr. Umida is a very patience and gentle teacher. She is always willing to take the time to explain concepts thoroughly and address any questions or concerns that I may have. Under her teachings, I won my first 1st place in piano competition and I sincerely improved a lot from the past few years. Moreover, Dr. Umida is approachable and genuinely cares about the success of her students. She creates a welcoming and inclusive lesson environment, where I felt encouraged to participate and share my thoughts. She's my favorite piano teacher, and I really enjoy her teachings!

During my years with Dr. Umida, as a student, I have experienced a good learning environment, excellent instruction, great opportunities, and helpful comments to improve myself. I am filled with excitement every time I choose new repertoire with composers from all music periods and styles, and I am grateful for the numerous competitions and festivals I have participated in.

Umida is one of the best teachers out there.
She's been teaching both our girls for a year+ now, and we've been incredibly impressed how she's been able to cultivate the love for music and desire to play piano (our 7 year old would practice on her own!). Umida found a common language with them despite their very different personalities. Umida uses empathy and compassion in her approach and coached us as parents on how to develop them as budding musicians. The girls come back from class excited about the next song they chose to learn together. Our older daughter who's usually very shy to perform in front of others even won her first competition!

Preeya Mehta:
I really enjoyed the theory class with Dr. Avloni. It taught me a lot about music theory, music history and ear training. It was a very relaxed atmosphere where all of the students learnt something new. After theory class we would listen to many pieces composed by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and we would give comments on these pieces. The ear training also helped me greatly, and because of the way my teacher explained the identification of the chords, I was easily able to grasp the idea. I finished one entire theory book during the two months’ class. I would always look forward to the theory class now.
Overall, this has been a fun, enjoyable, and learning experience for me. I would like to thank Dr.Avloni for her time devotion and patience.
